Isopropyl alcohol, also called isopropanol or propanol, is a transparent liquid solvent whose main characteristics are rapid absorption and high volatility. Moreover, thanks to its properties, this product can be used for different purposes, although the most common are cleaning and disinfection.

What is isopropyl alcohol used for 

Isopropyl alcohol has a purity level of 85 %, which makes it less corrosive than those of higher purity. However, thanks to its chemical composition, it kills and prevents the growth of any microorganism. For this reason, the World Health Organisation recommends this product for disinfecting delicate items or other types of objects and surfaces, and it is even frequently used in industry to make detergents, wipes or gels. However, special care should be taken as excessive use can cause skin irritation. 

Uses 

- Cleaning of electronic devices as, due to its high volatility, it cleans and disinfects without damaging these delicate devices that require special care.
- Its fast absorption is ideal for cleaning glass, crystals, lenses, mirrors or any surface on which we do not want to leave marks.
- It can be used to remove stains from any fabric.
- This alcohol is also used in the automotive industry, as it is one of the additives that are added to fuel.
It removes grease and oil from different surfaces.

How to use isopropyl alcohol properly 

First of all, wet a wipe or cloth with isopropyl alcohol and wipe it over the surface you want to clean. If you want to remove a stain from a garment, simply apply a little of the product to the fabric and leave it to act before washing. Afterwards, wipe with a dry cotton swab to restore the shine.
